After 12 years in finance and investment, Saar Zafrir moved into design after 1·2 years of award-winning career in design. Cardo, the new brand developed by its design studio for the Marriott Autograph collection, is an innovative concept that combines high standards of hospitality and large meeting facilities with a focus on lifestyle, design and versatility.
Autograph Collection Hotels – Marriott International's luxury independent hotel brands, each with its own style and personality, emphasizes that each hotel has its own story and maintains a unique style and character. Marriott requires each of her Autograph Collection hotels to tell their stories to their guests in a way that is quite interesting.
Nicolas Romero Oneto, Head of Cardo Hotels, explains the inspiration behind the brand's name: cardo, a north-south street in the city of Rome, a central point of economic life, embodies a vivid and dynamic vision that inspires a new, all-encompassing concept of hospitality".
Designer Saar Zafrir draws inspiration from ancient history. "In Roman times, 'otium' meant that there was no commitment," he said. "Our goal is to immerse our guests in this tradition of relaxation, luxury and comfort, where every moment should be savored." The concept is embodied in an elegant palette reminiscent of the Roman Empire, characterized by rich olive greens, warm terracotta tones and subtle and delicate off-whites.
The warm and spacious lobby creates a sense of community, enhanced by playful geometric shapes, eye-catching arches, and unique 3D wall textures.
