The PuLiX Collection & LAYAN at The PuLiX Hotels in China
A few days ago, when sharing the Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka made by the LAYAN team in Australia, I always wanted to make a small collection of the Puli hotels made by the LAYAN team in China, and first said my personal opinion: Shanghai Puli is still very attractive even after so many years (because of JAYA's cooperation and support, it has endured); Xiamen Pushang Hotel (now renamed Qishang) has almost become a replacement for Shanghai Puli, attracting many designers to investigate; Wuhan Puyu Hotel (now renamed Hyatt Optics Valley) is very unfortunate and no one cares. On the one hand, it shows that foreign designers need the right time and place to do Chinese culture, and on the other hand, it also shows that their understanding and learning of Chinese culture need to be improved (JAYA is a foreign designer who knows Chinese culture best, and he likes his works very much, so he will have the opportunity to share them next time). In fact, the design team in Sichuan and Chongqing in China has done a great job of making high-quality luxury hotels with local culture, and it is not necessary to find overseas designers.
Shanghai Puli
The Puli Hotel is Shanghai's most luxurious hotel, with 193 amenity rooms and 36 luxury suites, as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant, Finis. Layan and Jaya co-create, Shanghai Puli is clearly better than Pushang and Puyu.
Looking at it now, I will still be impressed.
Xiamen Pushang (LOHKAN)
Inspired by traditional tulou architecture, it draws on local natural materials to blur the boundaries between natural and man-made environments through design.
Architecturally mimicking the Tulou courtyard house of the Fujian family, the architecture and interior adopt a soft and humble design language, integrating with the surrounding natural environment and showcasing local materials and craftsmanship through the hotel's architecture.
To sum up, LAYAN design does have advantages in the exterior and landscape parts of the building, and there is room for improvement in the interior part.
Wuhan Puyu (hyatt-regency)
Puyu is beautiful jade, and the important characteristics of beautiful jade is "light but not dazzling", shiny but not dazzling, always exuding a faint light, the same is the positioning of "urban paradise", the overall design is the integration of Jingchu culture and elegant contemporary elements, emphasizing the soothing of body and mind in the resort and leisure environment.
