MGM Shenzhen: A new benchmark for luxury seaside resorts!
MGM Shenzhen Hotel was demolished and rebuilt on the site of the original Xiaomeisha Hotel in the area, and it is also the first MGM in Guangdong.
The east wing of the project retains the trapezoidal structure of the original building. The new Xiaomeisha Hotel seems to have grown out of the original building, creating a new metamorphosis.
The arc-shaped curves are like surging water, spreading and expanding, and the space is connected with the ocean. When the sun shines, it will present a color-changing effect, like clouds in the sky, and shining like pearl shells.
The mountains and seas are graceful, the starlight is charming, and the pearly white is painted on the flowing three-dimensional curves, which gives the imagination infinite extension.
We use curved structures to wrap the space to make up for the shortcomings of the original lobby building, which has a short depth and a symmetrical column structure. Simple and smooth lines cascade down, like a harmonious variation in the changes of light and shadow.
From order to disorder, static to dynamic, rational to emotional, from linear to non-linear, the form is constantly changing, allowing reality and fantasy to blend into this moment. The diversified design impacts people's visual focus.
The sculpture "Rebirth - Carp" by the famous artist Gao Xiaowu in the reception area expresses the belief in nature, embodies it in the space, and awakens people's dreams and longings for the original nature.
The mirrored spiral staircase, like a piece of sculpture art, embellishes the space while the flow of light and shadow lays out a poetic and romantic dream chapter.
Following the moving line to the lobby bar, the consistent design makes people linger. The specially designed half-moon-shaped blue screen cleverly divides the space into several relatively private small areas. The artworks and flower arrangements in various corners give people an endless sense of freshness and surprise.
In creating the sense of depth, three-dimensional deconstruction, progression and height techniques are used to express the architectural features of Guangdong's semi-enclosed houses, with "enclosed living, circular movement lines, and progressive levels".
Light and dark flicker, reality and illusion alternate, and shadows appear between inside and outside, presenting the spatial aesthetics brought about by the interlacing of layers.
Through the collision of materials and simple and restrained techniques, local elements such as history, culture, art, and architecture are integrated into the design, responding to nature in a gentle and interesting way.
The design of the all-day restaurant incorporates local cultural elements such as Lingnan window paper-cuts, characteristic bamboo weaving, and old streets. Surrounded by the "smoky atmosphere", it highlights a kind of "stability" that relaxes the mind and the rich flavor of urban life.
The layout of the executive lounge is inspired by yachts, outlining the sense of order and fluidity of the space. In the curved space, it contrasts with the natural scenery outside the window, and you can feel the warm embrace of the sun.
The guest room design takes advantage of the relationship between the building and the sea, as well as the characteristics of the natural environment, and uses the changes in the sun and moon and the shape of the waves as design elements. The soft curves of the interior ceilings and walls echo with the waves and clouds in the distance.
The glass and wood finishes are designed to mimic the ripples on the sea surface, and the soft furnishings are a white round bathtub and a red round table that reflect the sun and the moon. The sunlight and the sea water alternate between red and blue, blending the bright and lively colors of the ocean into a relaxing and leisure atmosphere.
Hidden in a low-key and quiet place, it welcomes the incoming guests in the most peaceful manner, allowing the space to grow naturally and present a sustainable model of life.
