Hotel Indigo Wuxi Taihu City
Indigo, which excels in narrating neighborhood culture, has taken the cultural stories, customs and surrounding history of this ancient Jiangnan water city as inspiration to create a new tourist destination in Wuxi - Hotel Indigo Wuxi Taihu New Town. As a supporting facility for the permanent venue of the World Internet of Things Expo, the hotel incorporates the delicacy and gentleness of the Jiangnan water city into every detail, striving to create a spiritual place to stay, allowing guests to feel as if they are in a quiet urban oasis and take in the changing beauty of the four seasons.
The hotel was designed by HBA, and Gold Mantis was responsible for the overall decoration and construction. The entire project cleverly combines the Jiangnan charm and modern industrial style. It uses natural colors to miniaturize natural and cultural features such as the reflection of Taihu Lake, ripples of flowers, fishing nets and canvas, and cultural relics such as the "old flour mill" in the memory of local people into the story context of neighbors. Every detail contains the elegant charm of Wu.
The sparkling waters of Lake Tai under the setting sun and the singing of fishermen are breathtakingly beautiful. The hotel reception desk in the lobby is designed in the shape of a sailboat, which complements the silhouette of Lake Tai on the ceiling. The clever lighting reflects each other, and the atmosphere of boating on the lake seems to invite you to set sail together.
The design of the "Sikkim" neighborhood cafe is inspired by the Wuxi Maoxin Flour Mill, a national industrial legend founded in 1900, which is steeped in history.
The large floor-to-ceiling windows are like picture frames, revealing the lush greenery of the garden. The ochre bricks and stones, retro molds, wheat ear texture on the countertops and Morandi-colored sofas in the restaurant create a sense of warmth and tranquility.
The hotel's banquet hall and multi-function hall continue the unique and imaginative design style, with yarn and fishing nets used as inspiration to embellish the banquet hall, increasing the atmosphere of the space. The floor-to-ceiling windows bring in ample natural light, injecting vitality into conference activities. The banquet hall's lighting art installations evolved from spindles, tables and chairs with a steel industrial style, and fishing and sailing art elements recreate the heyday of Wuxi's textile industry and the prosperity of the water town.
The 160 guest rooms are reconstructed with modern aesthetics using traditional elements such as the Taihu Lake water and arch bridges, which are characteristic of the land of fish and rice, as well as century-old industrial elements. The gradient cherry blossom pink and "Indigo Blue" inject a touch of dreamy and fashionable color into the space. The unique arch bridge bedside shape and Taihu Lake scenery murals complement the charming garden scenery and wetland park ecological scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The concept of the rooftop swimming pool comes from the landscape around the lake and the tranquil details of the building. The light and shadows are mottled, the ripples are dragged, and you can swim freely and feel the comfort and freedom of the rippling water. The gym is a great place for guests to exercise and relax, where they can sweat and enjoy the happiness and satisfaction brought by sports.
The ceiling of the hotel guest room corridor is a mix of aluminum square tubes and flat panels, with a very complex shape. The corridor is about 47 meters long, and its straightness is difficult to control. At the same time, the aluminum plate and the wall wood finish must be seamlessly connected. The project team improved the splicing method and adjusted the dividing line of the aluminum plate to make the long aluminum plate straighter and the joints flatter. The long aluminum plates are spliced with staggered joints, which are more stable and tighter, and also ensure better results.
The curved design of the guest room bathroom wall requires high precision. In order to improve the construction accuracy and work efficiency, the project team fixed the formwork, opened the formwork, supported the formwork, and set the fixed steel frame welding embedded points. The bathroom steel frame was modularly produced in batches, the steel frame uprights were modularly installed, and the crossbar steel frame was individually adjusted and welded to ensure the flatness of the steel frame. During the construction of each surface process, the arc size was controlled according to the module to ensure smooth closure. The surface wood veneer, stone, glass, etc. were ordered jointly to ensure that the surface installation was consistent and met the high standards.
The Hotel Indigo Wuxi Taihu New Town is poetic and picturesque, blooming in the Jiangnan water town. It integrates humanity and nature, and combines the historical texture with modern aesthetics. It tells the elegance and brilliance of the century-old industrial and commercial city, presenting a visual and spiritual feast for every guest.
